Van Til on Reformation Today

In 1963, the esteemed Reformed theologian and apologist Cornelius Van Til gave an address in Baltimore, Md. on the topic of Reformation in the contemporary world. His conclusory section was entitled “Our Task.” It is short and to the point, so I have copied it here in its entirety:

Our task as those who still believe that we are by nature sinners, with the burden of God’s wrath upon us till Christ bears the penalty due to our sins in our behalf, is to unite in a common effort of carrying forth the gospel as proclaimed by the Reformers to a world that is lost in sin today. Let us not compromise the gospel of God by cooperation with those who proclaim the gospel of man. Let us not be wise in our own conceits; for what we have we have received by grace. But let us, with holy boldness, proclaim that “after the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God through the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe.”
